Delta (the Options Greek)

How much an option's premium moves for a ₹1 move in the underlying — not to be confused with DeltaK, the strategy this site's terminal runs.

Delta runs from 0 to 1 for calls and 0 to −1 for puts, and roughly tracks an option's probability of finishing ITM. A deep-ITM option's delta approaches 1 (moves almost point-for-point with spot); a far-OTM option's delta approaches 0 (barely moves at all).

It's a coincidence of naming, not a connection: this page is about the Greek. DeltaK, the strategy behind Quantum Horizon's terminal, is named for a different idea — the wall migration and rotation its engine reads, not the options Greek.

Example: a NIFTY 24,900 call, 100 points ITM, might carry a delta near 0.65 — a 10-point move in spot shifts its premium by roughly ₹6.50. A 25,200 call, far OTM, might carry a delta near 0.15 — the same 10-point move only shifts it by about ₹1.50.

0 Δ1 Δ
25,200 call (far OTM): 0.15
24,900 call (100pt ITM): 0.65
